Dystopia is a play that reflects concerns of a group of artists about our world.
Dystopia tells the story of people from different classes who feel increasingly distanced from themselves, and not distinguishing good from evil, tend to prefer evil over good.
The play is written and directed by Farid Masjedi and will be performed in PACT theatre in Sydney, Australia 8 – 17 March 2018

Project Start Date: 2017-06-01

Project End Date: 2018-03-17

Dystopia,” produced by the Nomad Art Group, is a groundbreaking theatrical performance that pushes the boundaries of traditional storytelling. The project, which took an entire year to come to fruition, is a testament to the dedication and passion of its creators. Notably, the entire production was brought to life by non-professionals, a diverse group of individuals united by their shared love for the arts and storytelling. Their collective effort underscores the play’s core message: the power of human connection and creativity transcends professional boundaries.

At its heart, “Dystopia” is more than just a play; it is a profound commentary on the human condition. Set against the backdrop of a world growing increasingly disconnected, it delves into the lives of individuals from varied social classes. These characters, each struggling with their own inner turmoil, find themselves in a world where the lines between good and evil blur, leading them to often choose the latter. What makes “Dystopia” truly unique is its non-dialectic approach. The play unfolds entirely through movement and action, eschewing words for a powerful, visceral form of storytelling. This choice amplifies the emotional intensity of the narrative, allowing audiences to experience the characters’ journeys more intimately.

Written and directed by Farid Masjedi, “Dystopia” was showcased at the PACT Theatre in Sydney, Australia, from March 8 to 17, 2018. The performance was more than just an artistic endeavor; it was a bold statement about the world we live in. Through its innovative storytelling, “Dystopia” not only entertained its audiences but also provoked deep introspection about the state of our world. It highlighted how, in a society increasingly defined by disconnection and moral ambiguity, art can be a powerful medium for reflection and change.
